How to Play

What is an online trading card game?

In an online trading card game, a TCG, you earn virtual cards by playing games and completing various tasks. You won't always get the cards you want, so you'll have to trade with other players to complete your decks! Trading is highly encouraged!

Colors TCG

Colors TCG is a multifandom character TCG that features decks using mostly animanga-influenced art. Characters can be from the following sources:

Sources may not be fan productions, unpublished sources, or Western sources.

How do I play at Colors TCG?

First, read the basic rules. After that, join the TCG! If you have any questions, feel free to ask over at the FAQs. Updates with new decks occur monthly, and there are lots of freebies involved! Consider joining the trading community to interact with other members!

Your Card Post

Card posts need a section with your information (your name, number of cards you possess, your current level), a section for cards you're collecting, a section for cards you're trading, and a trading log.

Trading logs must be detailed and include specific cards you earned or traded and the date on which this happened!

Check out this lovely post for an example of how to set up and manage your card post.

Regular Decks

Regular decks feature 20 images of a single character. Regular cards count as 1 towards your card count, and trading them counts towards sketchpad completion. You earn mastery rewards by collecting all 20 cards in a deck. All decks have an official color which is displayed on the deck list.

Special Decks

Special decks feature minor characters, characters who don't have enough official art for decks of their own, or characters from a series who fit a certain theme, such as the Shinigami captains from Bleach. Special cards still feature only one character, but some special decks may feature more than one series. Special cards turn up in the randomizer just like normal cards!

Special cards count as 1 towards your card count, and trading them counts towards sketchpad completion. You earn mastery rewards by collecting all 20 cards in a deck. All special decks have two official colors which are displayed on the deck list.

Signature Cards

Signatures serve as member cards at Colors. You can get your own here! You start off with 3 copies for free. Signatures may only be traded for other signatures, you may only trade your own, and they cannot be given as gifts.

Signatures count as 1 towards your card count, and trading them counts towards sketchpad completion. You may earn mastery rewards by collecting 20 unique signatures.

Sketchpads

Here at Colors, for every card you trade with other players, you mark down one box on your Sketchpad! If you trade 2 cards for 1 card, you mark down 2 boxes while the other player marks down 1. If you trade away 1 card for a crayon from another player, you mark down 1 box while the other person marks down nothing because a crayon is not a card.

After filling out all 20 boxes, turn your completed Sketchpad in over at the Art Shop for rewards! Empty Sketchpads are found in the graphics section of the site (older graphics here), and if you'd like to donate Sketchpads for other people to use, you may do so here.

Masteries

Once you collect all 20 cards in a deck, visit the Masteries post to collect your rewards. You receive a mastery badge and have your player name listed on the deck's page, as well as earn the following rewards:

Crayons

IOUs at Colors come in the shape of crayons! You may trade any color crayon for any card of the same color; deck colors are indicated on the decklist. Crayon exchange rates are as follows:

To exchange your crayons, visit the Art Shop.

Portfolios

Portfolios serve as personal mastery challenges, laid out by you! By collecting 1 deck from each of the colors featured at Colors, or 8 decks of the same color, you will earn special prizes. Portfolios are not mandatory—you need only make one if you want to! View all the details regarding Portfolios here.

Games

Games are the easiest, quickest, and best way to earn Cards at Colors. Currently, all games are handled through the DW community, which we recommend joining and watching. Games are simple and easy to play, but feel free to ask questions if you're confused! Most games are posted weekly and biweekly, but there are also several monthly games with better prizes. Prizes are handed out as timely as possible.
